Really good smash burger. I made the mistake of substituting my fries to salad for 2 dollars extra. Should of stuck with the fries because the salad was really tart and they really didn’t give me much compared with the fries. See pic
I got the ramen because I wasn't feeling that great and it was exactly what I was looking for. The marinated egg was top notch. The noodles were great. The broth was rich and flavorful. Amazing ramen truly loved it. I also got in order of sushi which was really great. You're looking for phenomenal ramen and great sushi Kinjo Kitchen is the place to go. They also have an expansive drink list.
I had a great first time experience here. I went for my birthday dinner because I've been trying to find somewhere to have an authentic ramen and they did not disappoint at all. It was very delicious I enjoyed every bite and the staff were very sweet and the owner was actually there and even gave me a free dessert for my birthday which was unexpected and they put the ice cream on the side for me too. The establishment was very clean even the bathrooms yet we weren't the only customers there which is great to see. I really enjoyed it there and do recommend it to anyone, at least for the veggie ramen, I will definitely go again sometime. The only thing the be aware of is later nea closing time there is an axe throwing place right above and I didn't notice until we were about to leave like 30 minutes before close I'd say but I didn't notice until very late so just plan your visit earlier I'd say.
The food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Certainly not worth the price. Our food took 1.5 HOURS to get to us. We went here on a Saturday night. First time. We had the veggie ramen, Mongolian Ribeye and some veggie egg rolls. The Mongolian ribeye game with a giant bowl of RICE and literally 5 cubes of green pepper and a few pieces of onion. Utterly ridiculous. I paid 32 for mostly rice.
Went to eat there this afternoon with my boyfriend, food and drinks were really great, atmosphere was great, and service was great. Got the Bao and Lettuce Wraps. Yummy!
We stopped by for dinner. The restaurant is in downtown Macon. The ramen was beautifully presented. The veggie egg rolls were alright. Four stars because they didn't have Three Taverns sour.
TLDR: The Tonkotsu Ramen was the most disappointing aspect of the entire meal. The scallops on top of the grits with the sauces on the side were pretty okay, except for whatever was making it taste sweet. The buns were "ok". The cocktail was expensive for the little bit I got.
The entire point of me and my wife coming here was for the ramen. Usually, we would drive the 2 hours from Warner Robins to Atlanta, just for the food. Unfortunately, we will have to keep making that drive. I was hoping that Kinjo's Kitchen would help eliminate that drive.
Why I Disliked The Ramen:
To start, the broth tasted like water, oil, lots of salt and nothing else. There was little to no flavor. Furthermore, the meat looked more like pulled pork (it was actually duck meat). I didn't mind the pickled onions and everything else added to the ramen. I'm just very, very disappointed that the base of the ramen was THAT bad. It was like drinking gourmet salt water. The eggs were okay. The noodles were pretty good; they were springy and firm.
I was hoping for a broth that was drinkable, to the point where I could empty the entire bowl.
I left pretty disappointed.
If Kinjo fixes how the broth, then I could possibly recommend and keep coming back.
The Scallops:
This was probably the best thing I ate here. The only problem I had with it was the sweet-tasting flavor profile I kept getting from it. The (3) scallops are served on top of grits with a green and red sauce on the sides. There are also bits of onion and red bell pepper (?) on top of the scallops. I usually don't eat grits, but this dish was actually pretty good, besides the sweet taste I kept getting.
The Bao:
The buns were made with duck meat and not pork meat. While this in itself is not an issue, the duck tasted pretty bland. It's like all they did was lightly season the duck meat and didn't use any type of marinade or sauce. To add on, I mostly tasted the pickled onions and scallions that were on top of the bun. The flavor of the vegetables overpowered the actual food that it was trying to accompany.
The Cocktail:
It was okay. I got something I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy and I'm not really going to judge it. People make cocktails differently and I still enjoyed what I ordered. However, it was a pretty expensive cocktail for the amount I got, in my opinion.
Lastly, I don't think the food was worth the price. If I wanted to spend that much on food, I would rather keep making the drive to Atlanta. At least there the ramen is good.
Great experience here with excellent service. Food creativity was on point and the appetizers were good.
The ramen was excellent…initially. As it cooled so did the appeal so eat quickly. Since I was on a date I was eating slowly so I didn’t finish.
The soaked deviled eggs are fantastic.
The desserts were also very memorable. Get one.
So it’s great for dates and good food and right in the heart of downtown.
